In The Observer: Eyes Of Unitaria, step into a blend of 20th-century Cold War tensions and the atmosphere of pre-World War II. Experience a life in a country shaped by propaganda, surveillance, and suspicion as a hotel worker secretly recruited by the Bureau of Social Harmony. Your task is to observe guests, uncover hidden plots, and ensure the safety of the Coalition. But nothing is as simple as it seems — your decisions shape the narrative, and each guest has secrets of their own. Will you remain loyal to the regime, or discover something deeper and restore justice?

This is a demo made in 9 days  for a Godot Wild Jam, offering a glimpse into a dystopian world full of intrigue and choices that matter. Explore the hotel, dig into the lives of its guests, and uncover the truth — if you dare.

Lore

The year is 1962, and the world is divided between the Coalition of Unitarian United Socialist States and a group of rival Capitalist nations. An iron-fisted union, Unitaria, Domovina, Nordovia, Valystria, Brystan — forged within the blood of the violent overthrow of the old monarchy. The Coalition promised a bright future, with equality and unity for all citizens. Yet, through decades of authoritarian rule, that idealistic origin has become but a shadow.

Citizens of the CUUSS are constantly reminded that they are surrounded by aggressive capitalist powers, particularly the militaristic Grymmark Empire and the imperialistic Albionian Commonwealth, which aim to dismantle their socialist way of life. However, the grim reality is that dissent is suppressed and critics are silenced by their own state through an extensive network of informants and spies. Living in fear of being labeled "disruptive elements" or "counter-revolutionaries," citizens feel haunted not only by external threats but also by their own government, as those accused often disappear into labor camps.

Setting

The game is set in the capital city of Unitaria, particularly in the towering Hotel Kalinastra, once a grand landmark now utilized by the government to house high-profile visitors, officials, and guests under suspicion. This hotel is a miniature world representing the oppressive regime of the state, with grand halls filled with whispers from informants and secret agents.

  • Gather Evidence: Gather enough evidence to support your finding. You are going to need a detailed case to make some realistic accusations.
